The Regional Autonomous Corporation of Tolima (Cortolima) granted the environmental license, for 20 years, for the execution of an electric power generation project in the north of the department, in charge of Hidrogeneradora Pijao S.A.S.
After five years of analysis, the authority decided to give viability to the initiative that will be built on the Totare River, whose area of influence will be the municipalities of Venadillo, Anzoátegui and Alvarado, in northern Tolima.
According to the Corporation, the company complied with the requirements and studies needed to develop the project. The water collection will not reduce the flow of the river because it will not be subject to consumption, water will enter a tunnel and downstream it will be discharged back to the tributary.
